Public Information Communication Internship

About the role

This unpaid internship with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Lima supports the Department of Global Communications in delivering public information and media outreach across Peru. The intern works under the supervision of the National Information Officer and can be scheduled full‑time (35 hours) or part‑time, depending on UNIC Lima’s needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general office support and respond to information requests.
• Draft press releases, media documents and other communication materials.
• Assist in producing and delivering communication products, including graphic material for social‑media campaigns.
• Update the UN website and social‑media accounts for Peru, drafting and editing content with guidance.
• Support audio‑visual production: create digital images, write photo captions, and assist with video/film projects.
• Maintain internal databases and help compile basic information for communication products.

Required profile

• Available to work full‑time (35 hours) or part‑time as arranged.
• Commitment of up to six months, with possible extension.
• Interest in public information, media outreach and United Nations communication.

Required skills

• Graphic design for social‑media campaigns.
• Drafting and editing media and communication documents.
• Website and social‑media content updating.
• Audio‑visual production, including digital imaging and video editing.
