Regional Freight Operations Manager – South America

About the role

Sandvik Mining seeks a Regional Freight Operations Manager for South America (SAM) to lead and continuously improve freight operations across the region. The role focuses on delivering efficient, cost‑effective, high‑quality, and sustainable transportation solutions while ensuring compliance with trade and customs regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the regional Freight Operations team and keep them updated on regulations and best practices.
• Design and implement regional and local freight strategies and transportation solutions.
• Manage inbound and outbound freight operations and relationships with logistics service providers, carriers, and customs brokers.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of customs and trade‑compliance documentation.
• Oversee the Freight Control Tower, monitor cost, quality and delivery performance, and drive corrective actions.
• Validate freight invoices, control processes and improve cost‑effectiveness and profitability.
• Maintain governance of transportation contracts, agreements and related documentation.
• Participate in global supply chain and logistics projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, International Trade or related field.
• Based in Chile, Peru or Brazil.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in freight transportation or logistics operations.
• At least 4 years of experience leading regional teams.
• Advanced English proficiency (mandatory) and intermediate Portuguese (desirable).
• Valid Class B driver’s license or local equivalent.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and work across different schedules/time zones.
