Tech Lead Data Engineer

About the role

As the Tech Lead Data Engineer & Data Architect at Cloudbeds, you will define the technical direction, architecture, and governance of the company’s core analytics platform. This hands‑on leadership position combines strategic design of data models with day‑to‑day engineering of pipelines, ensuring the platform is fast, reliable, and ready for AI‑driven use cases.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the Snowflake data architecture, including logical/physical modeling, warehouse sizing, and clustering.
• Lead end‑to‑end data pipeline development, covering ingestion, API integrations, ELT/ETL processes, and orchestration.
• Implement DataOps practices: automated dbt testing, CI/CD integration, credential rotation, and deployment standards.
• Define and refine data governance, cataloging, and observability solutions to track lineage, freshness, and quality.
• Drive AI‑readiness by building semantic layers, feature stores, and access patterns for LLM agents and ML workflows.
• Mentor Analytical Engineers, conduct design reviews, and collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, data science, and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Senior hands‑on experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, or Tech Lead in cloud environments.
• Proven ability to modernize data stacks, enforce engineering discipline, and manage cost‑efficient compute.
• Strong critical thinking, problem decomposition, and pragmatic experimentation mindset.
• Excellent English communication skills for remote, globally distributed teams.

Required skills

• Snowflake administration and performance tuning.
• dbt (macros, incremental models, custom tests, CI/CD).
• Advanced SQL and Python for data pipelines and MLOps.
• Ingestion/orchestration tools such as Matillion, Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or Fivetran.
• Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Jira workflow integration.
• Data catalog and observability platforms (e.g., data lineage, freshness monitoring).
