Temple Grounds Gardener & Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

This full‑time position is responsible for preserving the beauty, cleanliness and sacred atmosphere of the temple grounds in Lima. The role combines hands‑on gardening with supervision of a grounds crew to ensure the site meets the standards set by church leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain landscaped areas, sidewalks, driveways, building entrances and other assigned zones across 8‑14 acres.
• Provide direction, technical assistance and training to gardeners, volunteers and third‑party contractors.
• Develop and supervise a grounds crew, handling hiring, scheduling, performance management and daily activities.
• Ensure proper watering, fertilizing, mowing, weed and insect control according to seasonal schedules.
• Prune trees and shrubs, remove dead or diseased branches, and manage plant health.
• Report repairs, prepare supply requests, and oversee equipment and chemical safety.
• Maintain the grounds building and related facilities in clean, safe condition.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in landscape gardening, horticulture, agriculture or grounds maintenance.
• 1‑2 years of supervisory experience.
• Degree or certification in a related field is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb (23 kg).
• Experience working in a temple environment is a plus.
