Virtual Medical Assistant (Bilingual English/Spanish)

About the role

We are looking for a bilingual Virtual Medical Assistant to support U.S. healthcare practices from Peru. The role blends front‑desk patient interaction with back‑office clinical coordination, ensuring smooth communication between patients, providers, and insurance carriers.

Key responsibilities

• Handle inbound and outbound calls, emails, and patient communications in English and Spanish.
• Manage appointment scheduling, patient intake, and medical reception duties.
• Verify health‑insurance eligibility and benefits using U.S. payer portals.
• Obtain prior authorizations, track referrals, and follow up with insurance carriers.
• Communicate with providers, billing teams, and insurers to resolve coverage questions and gather missing clinical documentation.
• Maintain accurate, audit‑ready patient records within EHR/Practice Management systems and monitor workflow deadlines.
• Escalate complex claims or billing disputes to team leaders as needed.

Required profile

• Located in Peru with a reliable work‑from‑home setup (stable internet and power backup).
• Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Prior hands‑on experience supporting U.S. healthcare practices, clinical workflows, or health‑insurance processes.
• Familiarity with scheduling tools, EHR/EMR platforms, and insurance eligibility portals.
