Volunteer Children’s Program Teacher – After‑School Project

About the role

We are looking for a passionate volunteer to lead our after‑school classroom for 10‑15 children in the Yachay Project, supporting vulnerable families in Arequipa. You will spend afternoons delivering homework help, teaching core subjects and sharing meals, creating a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a classroom of 10‑15 students during the after‑school program (Monday‑Friday).
• Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group homework support (≈1 hour).
• Plan and deliver dynamic lessons in English, math and communication (≈1 hour).
• Share dinner with the children and assist with cleaning and maintaining the space (≈1 hour).
• Prepare lesson plans and submit materials to the project coordinator.
• Communicate with parents as needed and attend trainings with staff and psychologists.

Required profile

• Conversational level Spanish (minimum).
• At least 18 years old.
• Intercultural awareness and strong communication skills.
• Independence, creativity and responsibility.
• Commitment of at least 3 months (minimum 35 hours per week).
• Previous NGO experience is a plus.
