Early Years Teacher (Maternity Cover)

About the role

Markham College is seeking a dynamic Early Years Teacher to cover a maternity leave from August to November 2026. You will work with children aged 3‑6 in the EYFS curriculum, enriched with elements of the International Baccalaureate PYP framework, within a vibrant, play‑based learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver EYFS and PYP‑aligned lessons for three learning communities (FS1, FS2, Kinder).
• Facilitate inquiry‑led, play‑based activities across indoor and outdoor spaces.
• Utilise specialised areas such as the Creative Lab, Library, Art Room, Early Years Forest, Music room and heated swimming pool.
• Collaborate with senior staff to ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
• Maintain records and contribute to child protection and safeguarding processes.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in early childhood education or a related field.
• PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in early years settings (3‑6 years).
• Passion for learning through play and inquiry.
• Willingness to undergo child protection screening and provide a police/good conduct certificate.
• Spanish language knowledge is desirable.
