Transportation Engineer I / II

About the role

The Transportation Engineer I/II provides engineering expertise across planning, design, construction, and traffic operations. The role ensures projects comply with federal and state regulations while coordinating with government officials and private partners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing design reports, surveys, and project documentation.
• Coordinate design schematics and support capacity and level‑of‑service studies.
• Review and certify traffic control plans, signals, signs, markings, and detour plans.
• Monitor consultant contracts, progress, quality, invoices, and prepare supplemental agreements.
• Process Plans/Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) submissions and manage project schedules using project‑management principles.
• Prepare and review proposals, estimates, and project plans.

Required profile

• Experience in transportation engineering, including planning, design, or operations.
• Ability to work independently on complex assignments and refer unusual issues to supervisors.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with governmental and private stakeholders.
