Lead Product Manager – Market Data

About the role

Alpaca is looking for a Lead Product Manager to own and grow its market data business as a standalone, revenue‑generating product line. You will shape strategy, define pricing, and deliver the APIs and feeds that power both internal teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate exchange licensing, redistribution rights and entitlements while onboarding new exchanges and asset classes.
• Assess build‑vs‑buy decisions for data infrastructure, sourcing third‑party data or creating proprietary collections.
• Design and implement the commercial model, including pricing, packaging and go‑to‑market strategies for real‑time, delayed, depth‑of‑book, historical and derived analytics data.
• Own the competitive positioning by monitoring market‑data providers and leveraging Alpaca’s bundled brokerage‑plus‑data advantage.
• Lead the developer experience for market‑data APIs (REST, WebSocket/SSE, historical endpoints) ensuring coverage, latency, reliability and clear documentation.
• Drive partner discovery to prioritize data capabilities for neobrokers, RIAs, hedge funds and crypto exchanges.

Required skills

• Experience with REST APIs.
• Knowledge of WebSocket and Server‑Sent Events (SSE) protocols.
• Understanding of market‑data licensing and redistribution constraints.

What we offer

• Competitive salary and stock options.
• Health benefits.
• One‑time home‑office setup stipend of USD 500.
• Monthly USD 150 stipend via Brex card.
