Senior Data Scientist (Product)

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist, Product to help shape Alpaca's products through rigorous product analytics, experimentation, and data‑informed strategy. As a senior individual contributor embedded with Product, Engineering, and Design, you will turn ambiguous product questions into clear insight, define the metrics that matter, and build the experimentation tooling that guides what we build next.

Key responsibilities

• Drive product strategy with analytics by performing deep‑dive analyses across the product funnel (onboarding, KYC, funding, trading) to identify growth opportunities and improve core metrics.
• Build the experimentation engine: design and implement tooling, frameworks, and guardrails for trustworthy A/B tests and causal‑inference studies at scale.
• Define and maintain key product performance metrics and partner with analytics engineering to create governed, scalable dashboards.
• Embed cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, Finance, and Operations to integrate data‑driven decision‑making throughout the development lifecycle.
• Translate data into compelling visualizations and narratives for stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Enable self‑serve analytics by turning ad‑hoc requests into intuitive self‑service environments and contributing to text‑to‑analytics on our semantic layer.
• Mentor other data scientists and analysts, promote best practices, and foster a data‑informed product culture.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in product analytics and data science with strong statistical analysis and experimentation background.
• Experience building experimentation tooling and frameworks for A/B testing and causal‑inference analysis.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration and communication skills to influence product direction.
• Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Outstanding problem‑solving abilities and creative thinking.
• Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
• Track record of delivering projects in fast‑paced environments.
• PhD or master’s degree in a quantitative field and 6–10 years of experience developing predictive models.
