Localization Engineer

About the role

The Localization Engineer supports internal teams and external clients by delivering technical solutions for complex file types and translation processes. Working in a hybrid model (two days onsite, three days remote) and aligning with U.S. East Coast business hours, the role ensures successful implementation of automation, software, website, CMS, e‑learning, and AI voice‑over projects.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to internal Localization Engineering requests and advise during client onboarding.
• Participate in client calls as the technical advisor for Sales or Account Services.
• Gather customer requirements, prepare quotes, and define full project workflows for technical projects.
• Create import filters (Q filters) and memoQ files for file import.
• Integrate translations into source files and perform engineering checks for completeness and functionality.
• Adjust formatting by language and develop LQA guidance for linguists on complex projects.
• Document new processes at order, client, or department level and attend weekly departmental meetings.
• Execute special projects and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in technical/localization project management or engineering.
• Strong analytical and questioning skills to clarify client needs.
• Ability to determine whether existing or new processes are required.
• Confidence presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and oral communication with a professional tone.
