Middle School Music Teacher

About the role

FDR is seeking a passionate Music Teacher to lead its middle‑school music program. The role involves designing and delivering engaging music experiences that inspire creativity and support the broader arts curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a comprehensive music curriculum for middle‑school students.
• Teach music theory and practical instrument skills across a range of instruments.
• Supervise, assess, and grade student compositions, performances, and projects.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and execute Arts Week and other school events.
• Work closely with the SMT, community, and fellow educators to continuously improve the music program.

Required profile

• Teaching qualification or certification (Bachelor's degree preferred).
• Degree in Music or equivalent professional experience.
• Fluent spoken and written English.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of music theory.
• Proficiency in playing and teaching multiple musical instruments.
• Ability to communicate both concrete and abstract musical concepts.
• Talent for identifying and nurturing student creativity.
• Experience developing lesson plans and unit plans collaboratively.
