Senior Project Planner

About the role

Hitachi Rail is looking for a Senior Project Planner to lead and optimise complex schedules for large‑scale technology and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers and stakeholders to ensure timely, efficient delivery of critical rail initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and monitor comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define scope, deliverables and resource requirements.
• Perform critical‑path analysis, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and present progress reports, forecasts and variance analyses to senior management.
• Continuously improve planning processes and methodologies.
• Mentor junior planners and promote best practices in project control.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, PMBOK/AACEI/Agile methodologies and industry regulations.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to achieve consensus on timelines and milestones.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related technical field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling for large‑scale technology, manufacturing or infrastructure projects.
• Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Strong knowledge of PMBOK, AACEI and Agile scheduling principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Proven experience leading planning efforts on multi‑disciplinary projects.
• PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
