Typist Clerk III – Full‑Time Administrative Support

About the role
The Typist Clerk III provides complex clerical support to school staff, parents, students and the public. This full‑time position ensures timely communication, accurate record‑keeping and smooth office operations within the middle school environment.
Key responsibilities
- Answer and screen telephone calls, transfer calls, take messages and respond to inquiries.
- Compose and format correspondence, bulletins, reports, agendas and other documents for internal and external audiences.
- Maintain confidential records, including enrollment data, attendance, financial notices and staff rosters.
- Manage office supply inventory and process incoming and outgoing mail and materials.
- Provide information and direction to staff, parents, students and the public.
- Oversee work assignments for new employees, student workers or volunteers, providing orientation as needed.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions to receive and convey relevant information.
Required profile
- Prior experience in a similar clerical or administrative role.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and handle repetitive tasks.
- Strong written and verbal English skills with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Capacity to work independently, make common‑sense decisions and handle interruptions efficiently.
- Physical ability to reach, handle items, talk, hear conversations and maintain near visual acuity.
Required skills
- Proficiency with standard office equipment (phone system, copier, printer).
- Basic computer application skills and fast, accurate typing.
- Knowledge of standard office procedures.
