Accountant – Real Estate Experience

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with solid real‑estate experience to join Howard Financial’s back‑office team. You will work remotely as an independent contractor, supporting multiple clients with full‑cycle accounting, reporting and compliance under U.S. GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several real‑estate clients, including AP/AR, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review and analyse monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
• Perform job costing, project accounting and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors and assisting audit requests.
• Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, offering insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to increase accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, with proven real‑estate industry exposure.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
• Fluent English (B2+), able to communicate with high‑profile clients.
• Adaptable, detail‑oriented and comfortable in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
