Experiential Learning Program and Tourism Coordinator

About the role

The Experiential Learning Program and Tourism Coordinator supports the Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development’s (AASD) Experiential Learning (EL) initiatives in the Sacred Valley. Working from the AASD office in Calca, Peru, the coordinator assists in planning, promoting, and facilitating immersive educational trips for high‑school and university students as well as tourism groups visiting sites such as Machu Picchu.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange homestay and hotel accommodations, communicating arrival dates, group sizes, dietary restrictions and special needs to lodging providers.
• Plan and schedule meals, coordinate cooks, and manage snack purchases and supply inventories for on‑site and field‑based activities.
• Organise student and tourist transportation, liaising with drivers and ensuring timely pickups and drop‑offs.
• Support budgeting, maintain electronic records, and create promotional and presentation materials for EL programs.
• Collaborate with the Director of Experiential Learning and local partners to ensure smooth program delivery.

Required profile

• Fluent in English (spoken and written) and advanced spoken Spanish.
• Passion for community‑based development in the Sacred Valley; knowledge of Quechua communities is a plus.
• Experience teaching or facilitating student groups in residential or experiential settings.
• Strong interpersonal and cross‑cultural communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines and adapt to evolving project demands.
• Commitment to a minimum two‑year term; residence in Calca or eligibility to work in Peru is advantageous.
