Commercial & Risk Trainee

About the role

Glencore Peru is seeking a trainee to support its Commercial & Risk team in Lima. The role covers administrative work on the purchase and sale contracts of mineral concentrates, and helps identify, assess and mitigate risks across the end-to-end supply chain of base metal concentrates (Supply Chain Due Diligence - SCDD). It involves coordinating with suppliers, service providers, colleagues in other departments and the main office.

Key responsibilities

• Support the local SCDD risk process: conduct due diligence on suppliers and upstream partners such as traders, mine operators, treatment plants and toll processors, and map the supply chain down to the mine of origin for medium and high-risk counterparties.
• Screen transactions and counterparties against global sanctions lists and databases, flagging and escalating red flags.
• Evaluate operating permits, environmental licenses and concession rights, and maintain internal traceability and risk-scoring databases or dashboards.
• Support the Trading Traffic department: execute purchase and sale contracts, and handle written and verbal contact with suppliers, service providers and customers.
• Coordinate the reception and shipment of concentrates with suppliers and the warehouse, and work with surveyors and laboratories on inspections, sampling and assaying.
• Check and calculate concentrate values, arrange payments with accounting and finance, enter data in the ERP and produce periodic reports.
• Improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency.

Required profile

• Graduate in Law, International Trade, Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Engineering or another relevant field.
• At least one year of experience in compliance, anti-money laundering (AML) and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) activities.
• Fluent in Spanish and English; other languages are an asset.
• Desirable: basic knowledge of the Peruvian legal and regulatory framework and mining laws, and familiarity with AML and ABC requirements.
