Exploration Geologist (Gold) - South America

About the role

Gatesource HR is recruiting an experienced Exploration Geologist focused on gold mining for a position based in South America. The successful candidate designs and runs exploration programmes, carries out geological mapping and data interpretation, and helps meet exploration targets. The role is full time and requires relocation on a single status.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all safety procedures, identify hazards, report incidents and work safely at all times.
• Design and run exploration drilling programmes, including planning, budgeting and scheduling.
• Carry out geological mapping, sampling and data collection in the field.
• Analyse and interpret geological data to identify potential gold deposits.
• Work with geophysical and geochemical teams to combine multi-disciplinary data.
• Prepare detailed geological reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements during exploration.
• Maintain accurate records and databases of geological information.
• Use exploration software such as ArcGIS and Leapfrog for analysis and visualisation.
• Build relationships with local communities and stakeholders, and look for ways to improve exploration methods.

Required profile

• BSc in Geology or higher-level qualifications.
• Prior experience in mineral exploration, specifically in gold.
• Strong understanding of exploration techniques, geological mapping and data interpretation.
• Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in exploration software such as ArcGIS and Leapfrog.
