PostgreSQL Database Support Engineer (Remote, Americas)

About the role

Percona’s Support team is looking for a PostgreSQL Database Support Engineer to work remotely across the Americas time zones. You will collaborate with world‑class database experts, help customers solve complex production issues, and contribute to the open‑source community.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve PostgreSQL performance, query, and replication problems for customer DBA teams via email, chat, voice, or screen‑sharing sessions.
• Produce detailed analysis reports, knowledge‑base articles, blog posts, and webinars on frequently encountered issues.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem of tools.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English with customers and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for team meetings or conferences.

Required skills

• PostgreSQL (core, pgBackRest, WAL‑G, pg_basebackup, Point‑in‑Time Recovery).
• High‑availability solutions such as replication, Patroni, Repmgr, Stolon.
• Performance tuning, query optimization, index tuning.
• Linux administration and debugging tools (gdb, perf, strace, tcpdump, bpftrace).
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (including RDS).
• Configuration management: Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
• ANSI SQL (including window functions and recursive CTEs) and C programming.
