Senior Software Engineer – C++ (Trading Technologies)

About the role

Kraken is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Trading Technologies sub‑team. You will work on the ultra‑low‑latency messaging and transport layer that powers Kraken’s exchange, handling market data, orders and trade events at microsecond scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain the Aeron‑based messaging transport layer for the Kraken trading engine.
• Implement low‑latency, high‑availability solutions across unicast, multicast and IPC paths.
• Profile and tune the full stack – CPU pinning, NUMA topology, kernel bypass, buffer sizing – to minimise latency.
• Extend Aeron Archive integrations for durable message replay and stream persistence.
• Build security‑focused features that mitigate risk and protect system data.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code and contribute to the product roadmap.

• Proven experience in building high‑performance, low‑latency systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a distributed team.
• Passion for crypto, blockchain and financial trading technologies.
