Software Engineer – Kubernetes Core (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a senior Software Engineer to work on the core of Kubernetes. You will join BairesDev’s remote engineering team and contribute directly to the upstream Kubernetes codebase, shaping the next generation of container orchestration.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop core Kubernetes components such as the API server, scheduler, and controller manager using Go.
• Participate in Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to drive architectural improvements and new features.
• Implement and optimise low‑level interfaces including the Container Runtime Interface (CRI) and Container Network Interface (CNI).
• Review community pull requests, engage in upstream technical discussions and design proposals.
• Debug and resolve complex distributed‑system issues within the Kubernetes orchestration layer.
• Ensure stability and performance of the ecosystem through rigorous testing and collaboration with the open‑source community.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on systems programming.
• Advanced proficiency in Go and experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proven contributions to the Kubernetes codebase or other CNCF projects.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals (API server, scheduler, controllers).
• Expertise in low‑level container technologies such as CRI, CNI and OCI runtimes.
• Fluent English communication skills.
