About the role

Canonical is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Ubuntu Server Certification team. The role focuses on developing and maintaining Python‑based testing tools that validate Ubuntu Server on a wide range of enterprise hardware, ensuring a smooth out‑of‑the‑box experience for customers.

Key responsibilities

Develop and contribute to open‑source testing tools such as Checkbox and Testflinger.
Troubleshoot hardware compatibility, functionality, and performance issues on Ubuntu Server.
Provide technical support to hardware partners during their certification efforts.
Assist internal Canonical teams with customer deployments of datacenter and cloud products that run on partner hardware.

Required profile

Strong knowledge of Python and shell scripting.
Familiarity with server‑class hardware, Ubuntu, virtualization and cloud concepts.
Comfortable interacting with customers and partners in a support role.

Required skills

Test automation tools for hardware validation.
CI/CD concepts.
Virtualization/container technologies such as QEMU, KVM, LXC/LXD, Docker.
