Temporary English Teacher (2026/2027)

About the role

This is a temporary, full‑time position for an English teacher at San Marcos High School for the 2026‑2027 academic year. The teacher will deliver instruction in English language, literature, composition and reading to secondary students, following the district’s adopted curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver individual and small‑group instruction in English language arts.
• Teach content and skills in English language, literature, composition, and reading, aligned with state and district standards.
• Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general curriculum elements required by law.
• Develop a unified language‑arts program that fosters listening, reading, speaking, and writing competencies.
• Adapt curriculum to meet the diverse abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds of students.
• Maintain classroom behavior standards, evaluate student progress, and prepare progress reports.
• Collaborate with other staff to identify and address student health, attitude, and learning challenges.
• Create interest centers, displays, and provide current magazines, newspapers, and periodicals to enhance learning.

Required profile

• California credential authorizing English Education, sufficient to meet credential requirements.
• Demonstrated teaching or coaching experience.
• Knowledge of subject‑matter, philosophical, social, and educational concepts related to English instruction.
