Android Engineer – 3D Vision & Hardware Integration

About the role
Full‑time, home‑office‑based position joining a fast‑growing team in Latin America with core hours aligned to Eastern Time. You will work on an Android‑controlled physical system that combines 3D scanning, computer vision, motion control, sensors and real hardware.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute across Android development, 3D vision and geometry, hardware integration, and system‑level debugging.
- Work with depth‑camera data and point clouds to support product functionality and system behavior.
- Implement and troubleshoot coordinate transformations and calibration workflows.
- Integrate motion controllers, sensors, and other hardware components with the Android application.
- Improve simulators, diagnostics, and internal tools used for testing and system validation.
- Investigate and resolve issues across software, hardware, and device interactions.
- Help evolve proof‑of‑concept capabilities into reliable, production‑ready, user‑facing experiences.
Required profile
- Proactive problem solver who can take ambiguous problems, run tests or spikes, and present options with trade‑offs.
- Strong Android/Kotlin engineer with senior‑level experience in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, coroutines, state management, performance and debugging.
- Experience in hardware integration (USB, serial/Ethernet, sensors, controllers, vendor SDKs, JNI/NDK/C++, real‑hardware debugging).
- Applied 3D computer‑vision/geometry expertise (ToF/depth cameras, point clouds, calibration, coordinate transforms, visualization).
- Understanding of robotics and motion‑control concepts such as position feedback, homing, limits, latency and basic closed‑loop control.
- Prototype/R&D mindset comfortable working with incomplete hardware, simulators, logs and iterative integration.
- Strong communication and engineering judgement to explain findings and propose practical implementation options.
- Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environments and excellent spoken and written English.
